This  stud  was  founded  in  November,  1953,  by  H.B.  McCrabb  by  the  purchase  of  93  ewes  with  93  lambs  at  foot  from  WANGANELLA  ESTATE,  F.  No.  84,  and  1  ram  from  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83. 
In  1963,  the  flock  was  taken  over  by  K.B.  and  V.M.  McCrabb,  trading  as  Avenel  Partnership.  In  February  1971,  a  selection  of  110  ewes  were  selected  to  form  the  nucleus  of  the  stud  and  70  ewes  were  purchased  from  UARDRY,  F.  No.  79,  and  mated  with  a  ram  which  had  been  purchased  in  1969  from  UARDRY.  In  December  1983,  the  AVENEL  No.  2  stud  comprising  88  rams  and  379  ewes  and  ewe  lambs  was  transferred  to  AVENEL.  In  July  2012,  ownership  of  the  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  Colin  &  Amanda  McCrabb,  trading  as  Millabong  Pastoral.
