This  stud  was  originally  founded  in  1958  as  WANGANUI,  Poll  F.  No.  400,  by  M.E.  and  L.  Maitland  based  on  WINDSOR  PARK  ewes,  with  rams  and  semen  being  purchased  over  the  years  from  COLLINSVILLE,  GLENROY,  LEWISDALE  and  NEPOWIE  studs.  Although  stud  registration  lapsed  in  2002  due  to  a  shortage  of  labour,  it  continued  to  be  run  as  a  commercial  flock  based  predominantly  on  LEWISDALE  and  COLLINSVILLE  families.  In  January  2012,  the  stud  was  re-registered  as  WANGANUI,  Poll  F.  No.  1452,  by  Chris  Maitland  and  his  son  Matthew,  trading  as  M.E.  &  L.  Maitland,  by  the  purchase  of  1  ram  from  NEPOWIE,  Poll  F.  No.  59  and  the  inspection  and  approval  for  registration  of  32  rams,  144  ewes,  38  ram  lambs  &  40  ewe  lambs  which  had  been  selected  from  the  flock.
