This  stud  was  founded  in  November  1950  by  G  Sumner,  by  the  purchase  of  1  ram  and  63  ewes  from  the  CRANMORE  PARK  FN153.  The  RIVERBEND  stud  was  owned  by  the  Sumner  Family  consisting  Mr  G  Sumner,  Mrs  H  Sumner,  and  sons,  CG  &  CA  Sumner.  In  1985  the  partnership  was  dissolved  and  came  under  the  control  of  C  &  J  Sumner,  still  trading  as  Sumner  and  Sons.  In  January  1987,  the  stud  was  totally  owned  by  CA  Sumner  and  the  trading  partnership  of  Sumner  &  Sons  ceased  to  exist.  As  from  January  1989,  J  &  S  McLaughlin  became  partners  in  RIVERBEND  stud,  to  be  run  by  Riverbend  Partners,  which  included  the  above  named  and  Mr  Colin  Sumner.  In  December  1998  J  McLaughlin  took  over  the  stud  trading  as  Catlan  Holdings  Pty  Ltd.  Resigned  June  2004.
