This  stud  was  founded  by  F.  O'Meehan  for  his  father  in  1906  when  1200  ewes  were  purchased  from  BUNGAREE  FN110.  On  the  death  of  Dr.  O'Meehan  (Snr)  in  1907,  F.  O'Meehan  was  in  sole  control,  and  rams  were  puchased  from  BUNGAREE  FN110,  and  ANAMA  FN103.  In  1953  the  above  sheep  were  discarded  excepting  30  ewes  which  with  1  ram  and  150  ewes  purchased  from  CAPPEEDEE  FN112,  formed  the  nucleus  of  the  stud.  In  1953  the  stud  came  under  the  control  of  Mr  O'Meehan's  son  and  the  existing  breeding  policy  was  phased  out.  The  purchase  of  60  ewes  from  BUNDEMAR  FN11,  and  1  ram  from  BUNDEMAR  GENERAL  FN12,  were  to  form  the  basis  of  a  new  breeding  policy.  In  1975  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  the  family  company  trading  as  Caralinga  Grazing  Co.  In  January  1989  a  company  trading  as  John  O'Meehan  and  Sons  assumed  control  of  the  stud.  In  April  2001,  the  present  name  of  the  stud,  CARALINGA,  was  changed  back  to  its  original  name  of  MOURCOURUP.  Resigned  24/10/2003.
