This  stud  was  founded  in  March,  1979,  by  E.J.  Ashby  and  Sons  Pty.  Ltd.,  following  the  division  of  W.B.  Ashby  and  Sons,  ASHROSE,  Hallett,  SA,  Poll  F.  No.  191.  E.J.  Ashby  and  Sons  Pty.Ltd.  received  one  third  of  the  stud,  comprising  of  14  rams,  137  other  rams,  493  ewes,  mated,  104  other  ewes,  and  79  lambs.  In  1986,  250  ram  lambs  were  transferred  to  OLD  ASHROSE,  F.  No.  3762.  On  31st  March  1988,  following  a  family  division,  the  stud  was  divided.  E.J.  Ashby  &  Son  trade  as  formerly  and  retained  two  thirds  of  the  sheep  in  the  stud.  After  a  further  family  division  in  1993,  Old  Ashrose  Pty.  Ltd.  assumed  ownership  of  the  stud  which  retained  62.5%  of  the  flock.  In  April  2015,  Robert  Ashby  retired  from  the  partnership  and  Kate  and  Nick  Wadlow  assumed  full  ownership  of  the  stud  trading  as  Old  Ashrose  Proprietors.
