This  stud  was  founded  by  The  Hon.  G.C.  Hawker  in  1841  by  the  purchase  of  2000  ewes  from  CAMDEN  PARK,  NSW  (see  reference  flock)  blood,  in  lamb  to  Steiger  rams,  from  Thomas  Icely,  Carcoar,  NSW.  They  were  brought  to  Bungaree  overland.  In  1858,  5  Negrette  rams  were  used  but  their  progeny  was  discarded.  In  1861,  5  or  6  Rambouillet  rams  were  imported  from  France  and  were  used  in  the  stud  and,  in  1862,  John  Hope  presented  another  imported  Rambouillet  ram  to  the  Hon.  G.C.  Hawker.  3  rams  were  purchased  from  John  Murray,  Mount  Crawford,  Williamstown,  SA,  1  each  in  the  years  1865,  1874  and  1887,  and  were  used  in  the  stud.  In  1884,  3  rams  were  bought  from  W.  Gibson  and  Sons  of  Scone,  Epping,  Tas,  (see  reference  flock),  and  were  used  in  the  stud.  In  1885,  2  rams  were  bought  from  WANGANELLA  of  the  Premier  and  Warrior  strains  and  were  used  in  the  stud.  In  1906,  the  BUNGAREE  property,  with  the  whole  of  the  stud  and  flock  sheep,  was  equally  divided  among  the  5  brothers,  E.W.,  H.C.,  M.S.,  Walter  and  R.M.  Hawker,  the  flocks  now  being  known  as  F.  Nos.  115,  125,  103  and  110.  In  September  1909,  Edward  W.  and  Walter  Hawker  dissolved  partnership  and  Edward  W.  Hawker  took  his  half  of  the  stock  and  the  Eastern  portion  of  BUNGAREE,  which  he  called  EAST  BUNGAREE.  In  1918,  BELCUNDA,  near  Mount  Bryan,  was  purchased  and  the  majority  of  the  stud  transferred  to  that  property  in  1920.  On  1st  April  1937,  a  family  partnership  was  floated  into  a  private  company  which  carried  on  the  stud  under  the  name  of  East  Bungaree  Limited  with  flock  originally  acquired  by  inheritance  and  subdivision  and  had  been  in  family  ownership  since  1841.  In  1980,  Mr.  W.H.  Wylie  purchased  the  entire  shareholding  of  East  Bungaree  Pty  Ltd.  In  May  1986,  East  Bungaree  Pty  Ltd  was  sold  to  Andrew  and  George  Hawker  trading  as  Hawker  Proprietors.  In  1987,  Andrew  Hawker  took  his  share  of  Hawker  Bungaree  properties,  being  EAST  BUNGAREE  Merino  Stud,  and  taking  his  family  into  partnership  began  trading  as  East  Bungaree  Proprietors.  In  November  1995,  East  Bungaree  was  purchased  by  the  Litchfield  Family  of  Hazeldean  Stud,  Cooma,  NSW,  and  will  continue  to  trade  as  East  Bungaree  Proprietors.  In  December,  2005  the  stud  was  purchased  by  Tony  &  Mark  Brooks  trading  as  East  Bungaree  Pty.  Ltd.  In  October  2020  the  entire  stud  was  purchased  by  Collinsville  Stud  Merinos  Pty  Ltd.  This  stud  was  resigned  in  May  2024.
