This  stud  was  founded  in  January,  1988,  by  P.J.  &  M.H.  England  by  the  purchase  of  9  rams  and  60  ewes  from  GRINGEGALGONA,  F.  No.  3097.  In  February  1989,  13  pellets  of  semen  were  purchased  from  GRINGEGALGONA,  F.  No.  3097.  In  Aug/Sept  1991-92,  36  ram  lambs  and  44  ewe  lambs  were  bred  from  GRINGEGALGONA  ewes.  In  March  1992,  a  further  2  rams  were  purchased  from  GRINGEGALGONA.  In  1995,  80  ewes  were  inseminated  using  semen  from  poll  rams  to  establish  ewe  base  for  a  future  poll  flock.  In  2005,  trading  name  changed  to  Blackford  Merinos  Pty.  Ltd.  Original  registered  stud  flock  No.  4645  had  a  large  portion  of  Poll  genetics,  consequent  on  preferential  use  of  poll  semen  and  rams.  The  flock  was  divided  during  2006  with  many  of  the  sheep  transferred  to  Blackford,  Poll  F.  No.  1349.  This  flock  was  resigned  in  December  2023.
