This  stud  was  founded  in  1910  by  W.B.  Ashby  when  he  purchased  50  aged  ewes  and  1  ram  from  NORTH  BUNGAREE,  SA,  F.  No.  125.  The  progeny  of  these  ewes  were  mated  with  rams  of  HADDON  RIG,  F.  No.  48,  and  BUNDEMAR,  F.  No.  11,  strain,  and  only  a  small  number  of  the  best  ewes  were  retained  in  the  stud.  During  1925  the  business  was  floated  into  a  private  company,  trading  as  W.B.  Ashby  &  Sons.  In  1938,  a  ram  was  purchased  from  COLLINSVILLE,  SA,  F.  No.  318,  since  which  date  only  rams  from  COLLINSVILLE  have  been  purchased.  On  31st  March  1979,  the  partnership  was  divided.  The  remaining  members  of  the  partnership,  which  continued  to  trade  as  formerly,  retained  half  the  sheep  in  the  stud.  In  April  1996,  the  partnership  was  re-organised,  Brian  Ashby  and  sons,  Simon  and  Charles,  continuing  to  trade  as  formerly  with  their  half  of  the  sheep  in  the  stud.  In  September  2007  the  Ashrose  stud,  consisting  of  22  rams,  569  ewes,  120  ram  lambs,  132  ewe  lambs  &  1200  semen  doses,  was  sold  to  Glenstrae  Pastoral  Company.  Resigned  April  2013.
