The  Hon.  G.C.  Hawker  started  the  BUNGAREE  stud  in  1841  by  the  purchase  of  2000  ewes  of  the  CAMDEN  PARK  blood  which  were  in  lamb  to  STEINER  rams,  from  Thomas  Icley,  Carcoar,  NSW,  These  were  brought  overland  to  BUNGAREE.  In  1858,  5  Negrette  rams  were  used  but  they  and  their  progeny  were  discarded.  In  1861,  5  or  6  RAMBOUILLET  rams  were  imported  from  France  and  used.  In  1862,  J.  Hope  presented  another  imported  RAMBOUILLET  ram  to  the  Hon.  G.C.  Hawker.  3  rams  purchased  in  1865,  1874  and  1877  from  the  late  A.J.  Murray,  Mount  Crawford,  SA,  were  used  in  the  stud.  In  1884,  rams  were  obtained  from  SCONE,  Tas.  (see  reference  flock),  and  were  used  in  the  stud.  In  1885,  2  rams  were  obtained  from  WANGANELLA,  (now  F.  No.  83),  of  the  Premier  and  Warrior  strains,  and  were  used  in  the  stud.  On  the  death  of  the  Hon.  G.C.  Hawker,  the  BUNGAREE  stud  was  carried  on  by  the  sons  under  the  name  of  Hawker  Bros.  In  1906,  the  firm  of  Hawker  Bros  was  dissolved  and  the  BUNGAREE  property,  with  the  whole  of  the  stud  and  flock  sheep,  was  divided  into  5  equal  parts.  During  1906,  after  Walter  and  E.W.  Hawker  received  their  share  of  the  stud  and  flock  sheep,  the  ANAMA,  (now  F.  No.  103),  stud  was  founded  at  Clare,  SA.  In  September  1909,  Walter  and  E.W.  Hawker  dissolved  the  partnership,  each  taking  an  equal  share,  2413  rams  and  ewes,  of  the  stud  and  flock  sheep.  In  1914,  a  WANGANELLA  type  flock  was  started,  apart  from  the  ANAMA,  F.  No.  103,  stud  by  the  purchase  of  64  COCKETDEGONG  ewes  and  6  rams.  Later,  2  ewes  from  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  3  from  FAIRLIE  GRANGE,  and  4  from  BUNDEMAR,  F.  No.  11,  were  added  to  this  flock,  also  a  ram  from  MURGHA,  F.  No.  437.  A  few  years  later  a  ram  was  obtained  from  BUNDEMAR,  F.  No.  11,  and  1  from  RABY,  F.  No.  197,  and,  in  1919,  a  ram  LUCERNEDALE,  F.  No.  202.  These  were  all  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  blood.  In  1920,  these  WANGANELLA  type  sheep  were  discarded  and  the  origianl  ANAMA,  F.  No.  103,  stud  carried  on.  On  21st  June  1923,  the  Anama  Pastoral  Co  Ltd  was  incorporated  and  took  over  the  ANAMA  stud  from  Walter  Hawker  together  with  all  the  sheep  therein,  comprising  of  4764  ewes,  128  rams  and  3284  lambs.  In  1986,  the  stud  joined  the  sire  reference  scheme  using  semen  from  WONGA,  YULGERING  and  CRANMORE  PARK.  In  2001,  ownership  changed  to  Ryves  and  Tom  Hawker,  trading  as  Anama  Holdings  Pty.  Ltd.  Resigned  September  2007.
