History
This  stud  was  founded  in  March  1979,  by  B.W.  Wilson  and  Co.  by  the  selection  of  290  ewes  from  the  flock  and  the  purchase  of  7  rams  from  COLLINSVILLE,  SA,  F.  No.  318.  This  flock  was  officially  inspected  on  14th  June,  1979.  In  June  2008,  Max  &  Heather  Wilson,  trading  as  Wilgunya  Grazing  Co,  took  over  the  stud.

Stud Owner's Description

Wilgunya Merinos are large framed, plain bodied sheep but with an emphasis on a long staple of wool that will suit all western districts. The wool is well nourished lustrous white to withstand the Qld summer dry heat and hold up to fly strike better. Wilgunya has had 3 generations of breedership. A lot of time has been spent on follicle density as this determines wool cut. There is nothing worse than opening a wool staple up and seeing a lot of skin. Selling around 400 rams a year, our excess sheep are eagerly sought at sale time. Every ram is like opening a Christmas present.
