This  stud  was  taken  up  in  1856  by  J.  and  W.  Low  who  formed  their  stud  from  ewes  bred  by  and  purchased  from  J.B.  Bettington,  BRINDLEY  PARK,  Merriwa,  NSW  (see  Reference  Flock).  Rams  used  were  purchased  from  F.  Bracker,  Warroo,  Inglewood,  Qld.  From  1875,  rams  and  ewes  were  purchased  from  BELLE  VUE;  St.  Johnston  (Tas);  Cressy  (Tas);  Woodbine  (Tas);  Ashby  (Tas);  Dalness  (Tas);  Skene  (Tas).  Breeding  rams  prior  to  1951  were  WELLTOWN,  F.  No.  239,  E.  Downing  (Tas);  HAZELDEAN,  F.  No.  383;  Riccarton  (Tas);  W.A.  Kermode  (Tas);  LARRA;  MURGHA,  F.  No.  437;  SCONE;  Warroo  (Qld),  Skene  (Tas).  In  1956,  the  stud  was  carried  on  by  a  partnership  comprising  the  estate  of  P.C.  Leonard,  his  daughter,  Mrs.  H.M.  Chadwick,  and  his  son,  R.H.  Leonard,  trading  as  W.  Leonard  and  Son.  In  July  1993,  R.H.  and  E.R.  Morris  purchased  the  complete  Merino  stud.  Resigned  as  at  November  2001.
