This  stud  was  founded  by  Peppin  and  Sons  in  1861  by  the  selection  of  200  of  the  best  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  ewes  and  100  ewes  bred  by  N.  Chadwick,  Canally,  NSW,  and  sired  by  an  imported  Rambouillet  ram.  To  these  300  ewes,  were  put  selected  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  bred  rams.  In  the  early  1860s,  4  Rambouillet  imported  rams  were  purchased.  One  of  these,  named  Emperor,  exercised  a  most  important  influence  in  the  evolution  of  the  stud.  In  1866,  3  Rambouillet  rams,  imported  from  America,  were  purchased;  one  of  them,  named  Grimes  was  used  in  the  stud.  Mr  Peppin  told  A.  Austin  that  Grimes  progeny  were  not  quite  satisfactory  and  were  eliminated  as  much  as  possible;  he  was  a  pure  bred  Infatado  (Infatados  were  the  ancestors  of  the  famous  Rambouillet  flock).  In  1874,  the  flock  consisted  of  1700  ewes  and  from  these,  365  were  specially  selected  and  formed  into  a  double  stud  flock.  The  names  of  the  outstanding  rams,  since  the  inception  of  the  flock  are  Emperor  (the  principal  foundation  sire)  and  the  following  WANGANELLA  bred  Premier,  Warrier,  The  Quiet  Sheep,  No.  110,  Perfection,  No.  838,  No.  853,  and  No.  91.  A.  Austin  and  T.  Millear  acquired  the  property  in  1878  with  the  whole  of  the  double  stud  flock  and  one-half  of  the  ordinary  stud  sheep.  The  new  owners  continued  the  same  methods  of  breeding,  and  no  outside  blood  was  introduced.  In  1894  the  partnership  of  Austin  and  Millear  was  dissolved  and  the  property  and  sheep  divided.  A.  Austin  secured  the  Western  portion  of  the  property,  which  contained  the  original  old  Wanganella  homestead,  the  use  of  the  name  Wanganella,  and  all  registered  brands  and  ear-marks.  He  carried  on  the  stud,  using  only  pure  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  blood  rams.  In  1915,  the  property  was  acquired  by  the  sons  of  A.  Austin,  who  carried  on  the  stud  on  the  same  lines,  under  the  name  of  Austin-Wanganella  Co.  Ltd.  In  1958,  the  shares  in  this  company  were  purchased  by  F.S.  Falkiner  and  Sons  Pty  Ltd,  thereby  reuniting  the  whole  of  the  original  Peppin  Wanganella  flocks.  In  June  2000,  F.S.  Falkiner  &  Sons  Pty.  Ltd.  was  sold  by  News  Limited  to  C.A.  &  L.  Bell  Commodities  Corporation  (Australian  Food  &  Agriculture  Co  Ltd),  continuing  to  trade  as  F.S.  Falkiner  &  Sons  Pty.  Ltd.  In  2008  the  majority  of  BOONOKE,  F.  No.  7  and  the  whole  of  PEPPINELLA,  F.  No.  2628  studs  were  transferred  to  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83.  In  1878,  the  BOONOKE  stud  had  been  founded  on  half  of  the  WANGANELLA  stud  of  Peppin  &  Sons,  whilst  the  PEPPINELLA  stud  had  been  established  in  1958  with  ewes  from  the  WANGANELLA  stud  of  The  Austin-Wanganella  Co.  Ltd.  In  January  2015,  FS  Falkiner  &  Sons  Pty  Ltd  revised  its  trading  name  to  that  of  its  parent  company  the  Australian  Food  &  Agriculture  Co  Ltd.
