This  stud  was  founded  in  1954  by  R.A.  and  W.E.  Blanch  by  the  purchase  of  30  ewes  from  MIRANI,  NSW,  F.  No.  732.  These  ewes  were  mated  with  a  ram  which  had  been  purchased  in  1952  from  MIRANI.  In  1970,  the  ownership  changed  to  R.A.  Blanch.  In  1976,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  a  family  company  trading  as  R.A.  Blanch  and  Co.  Following  the  death  of  R.A.  Blanch  in  1984,  the  ownership  changed  to  Mrs.  A.J.  Blanch.  In  1988,  Mrs.  Blanch  remarried  and  the  stud  was  then  run  by  M.  &  A.  van  Eyk,  trading  as  Shalimar  Park  Merino  Stud.
