This  stud  was  founded  in  1935  by  L.A.  Carlon  and  his  son,  A.  Carlon,  when  he  acquired  about  1600  ewes  from  his  father,  W.  Carlon,  following  the  subdivision  of  the  latter's  property,  'Mount  View',  Salisbury  Plains,  Uralla.  W.  Carlon  had  obtained  his  flock  from  his  father,  A.  Carlon.  It  commenced  about  1864  with  GOSTWYCK,  F.  No.  529,  blood  ewes.  Only  rams  of  the  latter  blood  were  used  in  the  flock.  From  1935,  rams  used  were  purchased  from  MERRYVILLE,  NSW,  F.  No.  56.  In  1967,  the  ownership  was  changed  to  L.A.  &  T.  Carlon.  In  1974,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  T.  and  B.E.  Carlon.  In  1986,  Phillip,  the  son  of  T.  &  B.E.  Carlon  was  taken  into  the  partnership.
