This  stud  was  founded  in  1954  by  C.H.  McDonald  and  Sons  Pty.  Ltd.  by  the  selection  of  700  ewes  and  300  ewe  lambs  from  the  flock  and  the  purchase  of  3  rams  from  BOONOKE,  NSW,  Poll  F.  No.  1.  In  1962,  F.A.  McDonald  and  his  family  formed  a  company  trading  as  Old  Cobran  Pty.  Ltd.  and  took  over  the  greater  portion  of  the  stud.  In  1981,  the  family  adopted  the  trading  name,  F.N.  McDonald  Pastoral  Group.  In  1993,  the  stud  was  purchased  by  Frazer  Downs  Pastoral  Pty.  Ltd.  In  June  1999,  after  company  restructuring,  the  trading  name  was  changed  from  Frazer  Downs  Pastoral  Pty.  Ltd.  to  Old  Cobran  Pastoral  Co.  Ltd.
