This  stud  was  founded  about  the  year  1790,  the  King  of  Spain  presented  some  Merino  sheep  to  the  Dutch  Government,  some  of  which  were  sent  to  the  Cape  Colony.  Later  the  British  Commandant,  Colonel  Gordon,  took  an  interest  in  them  and  acquired  a  small  flock.  After  his  death  his  widow  sold  some  of  them  to  Captain  Henry  Waterhouse,  the  master  of  a  vessel  trading  to  Sydney.  He  took  them  with  him  to  Sydney  and  sold  them,  some  to  Captain  John  Macarthur  and  a  portion  to  the  Rev.  Samuel  Marsden.  Later  Rev.  Samuel  Marsden's  flock  was  moved  to  'Gamboola',  Molong,  NSW,  the  property  was  owned  by  his  nephew,  W.M.  Betts.  About  the  year  1840  the  Hon.  John  Smith  bought  the  property  and  the  sheep  from  W.M.  Betts.  In  1848,  the  Hon.  John  Smith  bought  rams  from  the  Australian  Agricultural  Co,  Box  508F,  P.O.  Newcastle,  NSW,  and  later  imported  Negrettes  from  Spain.  Kater  Bros.  of  'Mumblebone',  Warren,  NSW,  made  their  first  purchase,  consisting  of  75  ewes  and  1  ram  from  the  Hon.  John  Smith  in  1879.  For  several  successive  years  they  also  bought  the  'Gamboola'  cast-for-age  ewes  and  rams  to  join  with  them,  the  last  purchase  being  made  in  1885.  Under  the  supervision  of  E.H.  Kater  this  stud  made  rapid  progress  and  has,  since  his  death,  been  carried  on  along  the  same  breeding  lines  by  his  sons.  In  1996,  George  and  Bruce  Taylor,  trading  as  Taylor  Bros,  took  over  the  stud  and  transferred  it  to  Wellington.  In  2001,  George  Taylor  became  sole  owner  and  commenced  trading  as  Wuuluman  Pty  Ltd.
