This  stud  was  founded  about  1930  by  a  partnership  of  J.S.  Young,  his  wife,  Mrs.  L.  Young,  J.H.  Macdonald  and  his  wife,  Mrs.  M.A.  Macdonald,  trading  as  J.  &  L.  Young,  by  the  purchase  of  2  rams  and  100  ewes  from  F.S.  Austin,  'Mount  Widderin',  Skipton,  Vic  (see  BALLAKAYE,  F.  No.  1695).  Up  to  1930,  rams  used  were  purchased  from  WANGANELLA,  NSW,  F.  No.  83.  In  1952,  J.  &  L.  Young  formed  a  separate  stud  at  'Eulong',  Cavendish,  Vic,  by  the  transfer  of  25  ewes  from  the  original  stud  and  the  purchase  of  a  ram  from  MOUNT  GOW,  Vic,  F.  No.  199.  Although  these  sheep  were  pastured  on  a  separate  property,  they  have  been  included  in  the  MOUNT  CAVENDISH,  stud  Annual  Return.  On  30th  June  1969,  J.H.  &  Mrs.  Macdonald  withdrew  from  the  partnership  with  their  share  of  the  sheep.  In  1970,  J.  &  L.  Young  took  their  son,  Peter,  into  the  partnership.  Resigned  December  2015.
