This  stud  was  founded  in  1920  by  B.R.R.  Collins,  'Merton  Hill',  Pittong,  Vic,  by  the  purchase  of  75  ewes  from  WARRAMBEEN,  Vic,  F.  No.  1709,  and  2  rams  from  LANGI  WILLI,  Vic,  F.  No.  1702.  The  stud  was  moved  from  Pittong  to  MOUNT  BUTE  in  1923.  Following  the  death  of  B.R.R.  Collins  in  1938,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  his  sons,  H.J.  &  R.J.  Collins,  the  latter  relinquishing  his  right  to  the  stud  in  1947.  In  1979,  the  ownership  was  changed  to  Hugh  J.,  M.  and  S.  Collins.  Following  the  death  of  Hugh  J.  Collins  in  December  1991,  ownership  changed  to  Michael  G.R.  &  Sue  E.  Collins.
