This  stud  is  a  part  of  the  original  Ravensworth,  Yass,  NSW,  stud  which  was  established  by  G.  Merriman  on  Mudgee  and  Tasmanian  blood,  and  was  conducted  by  him  and  his  sons  on  the  same  lines  for  a  period  of  50  years  until  his  death  in  1915.  The  stud  was  then,  at  his  request,  divided  into  three  parts  and  W.T.  Merriman's  share  was  removed  to  MERRYVILLE  (a  part  of  RAVENSWORTH)  and  added  to  his  Merryville  stud  already  established  on  RAVENSWORTH,  F.  No.  594,  blood.  In  May  1941,  all  the  sheep  in  MERRYVILLE-MURGHA,  F.  No.  57,  comprising  530  rams,  2390  ewes,  521  ram  lambs  and  540  ewe  lambs,  were  transferred  to  MERRYVILLE,  F.  No.  56,  and  the  former  stud  discontinued.  These  sheep,  however,  together  with  their  progeny,  were  kept  separate  and  in  1950  were  transferred  back  to  MERRYVILLE-MURGHA  and  the  stud  comprising  25  rams,  161  ewes  and  640  lambs,  was  re-registered.  In  1979,  the  trading  name  was  changed  to  Merryville  Stud,  and  the  stud  was  moved  from  Yass  to  Boorowa.
