History
This  stud  was  founded  in  September,  1962,  by  W.J.  &  R.A.  Black  &  Co.  The  first  24  years  WONGA  blood  sires  were  used  from  KIA-WARRA,  F.  No.  2850,  and  the  remaining  rams  mainly  from  WESTRAY,  F.  No.  3007.  350  ewes  were  inspected  and  passed  by  official  inspection.  In  February  1992,  R.A.  Black  &  Family  became  sole  owners  of  MALLEE  PLAINS.  This  stud  is  now  predominently  based  on  POOGINOOK  blood  sheep.  In  November  2003,  the  stud,  consisting  of  5  rams,  38  ram  lambs,  250  ewes  &  110  ewe  lambs,  was  purchased  by  Ivan,  Pam,  Grant  &  Sandra  Coggan,  trading  as  I.,  P.,  G.  &  S.  Coggan.  In  February  2007,  ownership  changed  to  Ivan  Charles,  Pamela  Mary  &  Grant  Thomas  Coggan,  trading  as  I.C.,  P.M.  &  G.T.  Coggan.  Resigned  July  2009.
