History
The  Lansdowne  property  was  acquired  from  G.  Fairburn  Snr.  by  the  Lansdowne  Pastoral  Co.  Pty.  Ltd  in  1881.  As  far  as  is  known  the  sheep  at  that  time  were  Tasmanian.  In  1884,  the  best  of  the  ewes  were  selected  and  8  Tasmanian  rams  were  purchased  which  formed  the  foundation  of  the  stud.  After  1961,  the  company  became  a  public  company  trading  as  Lansdowne  Pastoral  Co.  Ltd.
