This  stud  was  founded  by  Alexander  Clarke  in  1886  when  a  number  of  in-lamb  ewes  were  purchased  from  R.B.  Ritchie,  Blackwood,  Vic.  A  selection  of  62  ewes  was  made  from  the  flock  in  1896  by  R.T.  Clarke,  son  of  Alexander,  and  to  these  was  added  a  number  of  ewes  purchased  from  Tasmanian  flocks.  From  1897-1938,  only  SCONE,  Epping,  Tas,  (see  Reference  Flock),  blood  rams  were  used.  The  following  year  a  ram  was  purchased  from  BARUNAH  PLAINS,  F.  No.  1703.  The  only  outside  addition  of  ewes  was  in  1897  when  68  SCONE,  Epping,  Tas,  blood  ewes  were  purchased.  The  stud  was  acquired  by  R.T.  Clarke  Jnr.  from  his  father  in  1938.  Since  the  death  of  R.T.  Clarke  Jnr.  in  May  1982,  the  stud  has  been  conducted  by  his  son,  P.J.T.  Clarke,  trading  as  R.T.  Clarke  &  Co.
