This  stud  was  founded  in  1863  by  Alexander  Sloane  who  purchased  at  Tubbo,  Darlington  Point,  NSW,  1200  ewes  from  Learmonth  Bros,  Groongal,  Hay,  NSW,  station  sheep.  Alexander  Sloane  managed  the  flock  until  1878  after  which  and  until  1910  the  flock  was  in  the  hands  of  his  son,  James  Sloane.  In  1966,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  John  H.  Sloane.  In  1970,  J.H.  Sloane  formed  a  company  which  traded  as  Kilnyana  Pty.  Ltd.  In  August  2007,  the  stud,  consisting  of  8  rams  &  365  ewes  was  purchased  by  Helen  J  Sloane,  trading  as  Savernake  Pastoral  Co.,  allowing  the  stud  to  remain  under  the  same  family  ownership.
