This  stud  was  founded  in  1935  by  E.C.  Howard  by  the  selection  of  30  ewes  from  the  ILLAWARRA  flock.  These  ewes  were  the  progeny  of  MURRNONG,  F.  No.  648,  rams,  and  were  mated  in  1935  with  a  ram  purchased  from  MURRNONG.  The  following  year,  a  further  30  ewes  were  selected  from  the  flock  and  included  in  the  stud.  The  ILLAWARRA  flock  commenced  about  1889.  In  1966,  K.C.  Howard,  his  wife,  Mrs.  L.  Howard  and  I.M.  Howard,  acquired  equal  shares  in  the  stud,  trading  as  Howard  Bros.  In  1970,  Mrs.  P.A.  Howard,  wife  of  I.M.  Howard,  acquired  a  share  in  the  partnership.  In  1994  K.C.  &  L.  Howard  acquired  all  shares  in  ILLAWARRA  and  commenced  trading  as  Ken  Howard  &  Co.  In  2015  ownership  changed  from  Ken  Howard  &  Co  to  GC  &  LJ  Howard.
