This  stud  was  founded  in  1927  by  J.  Hines  at  Marnoo,  Vic.,  by  the  purchase  of  100  COLLINSVILLE,  F.  No.  318,  blood  ewes  from  DUNDONALD,  Vic,  F.  No.  442.  In  September  1957,  J.  Hines  took  his  wife,  Mrs.  R.P.  Hines,  his  daughter,  Mrs.  M.L.  Chapman,  and  his  son-in-law,  H.P.  Chapman,  into  partnership,  trading  as  Hines  and  Chapman.  Upon  the  death  in  1967  of  J.  Hines,  the  stud  was  carried  on  by  the  remaining  members  of  the  partnership.  In  1979,  the  stud  was  relocated  from  Victoria  to  Deniliquin,  N.S.W.  In  December  1986,  following  the  death  of  Mrs.  R.P.  Hines,  the  business  name  was  changed  to  Hinesville  Merino  Stud.  In  May  1988,  the  ownership  was  changed  to  Hinesville  Merino  Stud,  consisting  of  Herbert  R.,  Marie  L.  &  Drew  R.  Chapman.  In  November  2001,  Herbert  R.  &  Marie  L.  withdrew  from  the  partnership,  leaving  Drew  R.  Chapman  as  sole  owner.  In  August  2002,  the  stud  was  moved  from  Deniliquin  to  Delegate  with  the  owners,  D.R.  &  L.E.  Chapman  trading  as  Hinesville  Merino  Stud.
