History
This  stud  was  founded  in  1859  by  William  Degraves  by  the  purchase  of  ewes  at  the  dispersal  sale  of  MOUNT  AITKEN  stud.  These  ewes  had  been  joined  with  RAMBOUILLET  rams.  In  1869,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  R.  Oliver  who  selected  1500  ewes  to  which  were  added  900  ewes  bred  by  Frederick  Wolseley  and  which  were  the  progeny  of  COBRAN,  F.  No.  22,  ewes  and  imported  STIEGER  rams.  Until  1885  BELLE  VUE  (see  reference  flock)  rams  were  purchased.  John  Barber  took  over  the  complete  stud  in  1939.  The  stud  was  again  divided  in  1955  when  portion  of  it  was  transferred  to  GOLF  HILL,  VIC,  F.  No.  2407.  In  1959,  John  Barber  took  his  son,  F.A.  Barber,  into  partnership,  trading  as  J.  and  A.  Barber.  In  1979,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  F.A.  and  R.R.  Barber.  This  stud  was  discontinued  in  Vol  LIX  -  1982,  and  re-instated  in  April,  1989.
