This  stud  was  founded  at  'Niawanda',  Beaufort,  Vic,  in  1932  by  A.R.  Beggs  by  the  acquisition  of  30  ewes  from  BULN  GHERIN,  Vic,  F.  No.  261,  and  30  ewes  from  EURAMBEEN,  Vic,  F.  No.  236.  In  1945,  A.R.  Beggs  purchased  the  BULN  GHERIN  property  from  R.G.  Beggs  and  the  `Niawanda'  stud  was  transferred  to  that  property.  BULN  GHERIN,  F.  No.  261,  which  was  dispersed  in  1945,  was  founded  in  1906  by  the  selection  of  2594  ewes  and  248  rams  from  EURAMBEEN,  F.  No.  236.  Rams  were  obtained  from  MULWALA,  F.  No.62,  CARNGHAM,  F.  No.  1281,  A.R.  Beggs  (BULN  GHERIN,  F.  No.  261,  and  EURAMBEEN,  F.  No.  236,  breeding)  and  NAREEB  NAREEB,  F.  No.  246.  Ewes  were  introduced  from  EURAMBEEN,  F.  No.  236,  and  A.R.  Beggs  (BULN  GHERIN,  F.  No.  261,  and  EURAMBEEN,  F.  No.  236,  breeding).  In  1962,  A.R.  Beggs  took  his  son,  W.R.R.  Beggs,  into  partnership  trading  as  Buln  Gherin  Partners.  In  1979,  all  rams  and  ewes  of  POPLARS  breeding  and  their  progeny  were  transferred  to  BULN  GHERIN  NO.  2.
