This  stud  was  founded  in  the  early  1840s  by  Thomas  Austin  by  the  purchase  of  sheep  from  TORR  HILL,  Tas.  James  Russell  acquired  the  property  in  1851  and  carried  on  the  stud  by  matings  with  LARRA  (see  Reference  Flock)  and  WARRAMBEEN,  F.  No.  1709,  rams.  In  1864,  a  RAMBOUILLET  ram  was  acquired  and  used  for  one  season  and  later  one  from  ERCILDOUNE  and  one  from  WINTON,  Tas,  were  used.  Since  the  death  of  James  Russell  in  1910,  the  stud  has  been  carried  on  by  his  executors.  In  1979,  the  stud  was  taken  over  by  G.W.  Mills.  On  1st  July  2001  the  stud,  comprising  125  rams  and  485  ewes,  was  purchased  by  Tim  Dennis  trading  as  Pottershill  Pty  Ltd.  Resigned  September  2005.
