This  stud  was  founded  in  1933  by  the  Barcaldine  Downs  Pastoral  Co  Pty  Ltd  by  the  selection  of  2000  ewes  from  the  flock.  These  ewes  were  mated  with  4  rams  purchased  from  BUNDEMAR,  NSW,  F.  No.  12,  10  rams  from  WANGANELLA,  NSW,  F.  No.  83,  10  rams  from  GOOLGUMBLA,  NSW,  F.  No.  42,  24  rams  from  COONONG,  NSW,  F.  No.  25,  and  2  rams  from  ELI  ELWAH,  NSW,  F.  No.  34.  The  Barcaldine  Downs  flock  and  property  were  purchased  in  1914  from  the  Fairbairn  Pastoral  Co  Ltd  by  the  Northampton  Pastoral  Co  Pty  Ltd,  the  name  of  the  latter  company  being  changed  in  1932  to  the  Barcaldine  Downs  Pastoral  Co  Pty  Ltd.  In  1934,  a  total  of  2157  ewes  were  purchased  from  BUNDEMAR  GENERAL,  F.  No.  12,  MERRINONG,  F.  No.  55,  YOOROOGA,  F.  No.  584,  and  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  studs.  This  stud  was  resigned  in  December  2022.
