This  stud  was  founded  with  ewes  and  rams  purchased  by  J.H.Medway,  Avondale,  Gunning,  NSW,  (father  of  P.G.  Medway)  about  1880,  from  Samuel  McCaughey,  the  original  owner  of  COONONG.  Up  to  the  time  of  P.G.Medway's  purchase,  COONONG  was  based  on  sheep  purchased  from  MOUNT  HOPE,  with  an  infusion  of  CAMDEN  PARK  (see  reference  flock),  HAVILAH,  F.  No.  578,  (N.P.Bayly),  and  MONA  VALE,  (R.Q.  Kermode).  During  1923,  the  AVON  stud  was  taken  over  by  P.G.  Medway  when  it  was  reduced  by  the  selection  of  200  ewes  and  2  MERRYVILLE,  F.  No.  56,  rams.  In  1954,  P.G.  Medway  took  his  son,  R.  Medway,  into  partnership.  A  company  was  founded  on  1st  July,  1970.  In  July  1983,  S.  Medway  was  taken  into  the  partnership,  the  company  dissolved  and  trading  commenced  under  the  name  of  P.G.  Medway  &  Son.  Resigned  March  2010.
