This  stud  was  founded  at  Acacia,  Mysia,  Vic.  in  October,  1953,  by  W.A.  Chalmers  by  the  purchase  of  2  rams  and  120  ewes  from  CANARY  ISLAND,  F.  No.  2770.  In  1974,  100  ewes  were  introduced  into  the  stud,  the  selected  progeny  from  8  rams  and  350  ewes  purchased  from  DEVON,  NSW,  in  1967.  The  DEVON  flock  was  established  after  the  purchase  of  DEVON  by  D.F.M.  Chalmers  Snr.  in  1904  and  was  based  on  pure  WANGANELLA,  F.  No.  83,  bloodlines  until  its  dispersal  in  1971.  The  ACACIA  stud  was  relocated  from  Mysia,  Vic  to  Deniliquin,  NSW  in  1976.  In  1983,  W.A.  Chalmers  took  G.A.  &  B.A.  Chalmers  into  partnership.  In  1999  the  stud  was  transferred  from  W.A.  Chalmers  to  his  son,  Bradley  A.  Chalmers,  trading  as  Chalmers  Acacia  Partnership.  In  2008,  CANARY  ISLAND,  F.  No.  2770,  the  stud  on  which  ACACIA  was  founded,  was  relocated  from  Boort,  Victoria  to  Deniliquin,  NSW,  home  of  the  ACACIA  stud  property,  to  initially  be  run  as  a  separate  stud  entity.  In  February  2011,  ACACIA,  F.  No.  3464  after  being  merged  with  CANARY  ISLAND,  F.  No.  2770,  under  the  stud  name,  ACACIA-CANARY  ISLAND,  F.  No.  2770  was  resigned  from  the  Flock  Register.  Resigned  May  2011.
